Harm and danger of sewer odor

The sharp stench from the collector is a mixture of complex hazardous gases - hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and methane. Ways to eliminate stench from the collector

If the water goes into the drain slowly from a plumbing fixture, clogging occurs. To fully remove odors from sewer pipes, you need to act depending on the identified cause:

• The presence of depressurization. It is necessary to restore the integrity of the rubber gaskets or sealant layer. The compound is disassembled and carefully cleaned from the remnants of the old tool. Then apply a new layer of protection and again join the elements to the stop. As a sealant, it is better to take a polyurethane-based product. Its full drying takes from 12 to 24 hours.
• Incorrect installation of the siphon. You will have to disassemble the drainage area and install the element correctly, immersing it in water with the lower part by 2-3 cm.
• If there is a crack in the corrugation structure, it must be replaced. The process is simple - the element is unscrewed at the top and bottom. Then a new one is installed in the reverse order.
• Blockage or siltation of the pipeline. This is the most common problem. On the walls of the siphon, corrugation and metal pipes, fat molecules often fall into the drain from the kitchen sink. Cold water leads to hardening of these residues, they form a greasy plaque. Later, hair and food debris are attached to the layer of fat. The clearance of the pipe narrows significantly. Mechanical flushing of the siphon can be carried out. To do this, you need to unscrew it under the sink / bathtub, substituting a bucket or basin. The removed element is thoroughly washed under running water with a household product.

Clogging can be done with a plunger. To do this, collect water (10-20 cm) in a bath or sink and open the drain. • Wash the sewer weekly. To do this, drain 20-30 liters of hot water.
• Inspect the manifold periodically for leaks and leaks. You need to investigate the entire length of the main line in the house before reaching the common riser and get rid of problems immediately.
• Change the corrugation under the kitchen sink annually. It is there that in most cases a fat plug is formed, which should be eliminated on time.
