Several indoor units are connected to one outdoor unit of the multi-split air conditioner system. This is the main difference between multisplits and conventional split systems. Multisplits are chosen in cases where for some reason it is impossible to install several ordinary splits. They are convenient for servicing a multi-room apartment. By purchasing a multi split air conditioner, you will not be able to save on a purchase. Since the outdoor unit MCC contains expensive and very complex equipment. We add the cost of highways and installation. And we get that there are more costs.
Types of multisplit air conditioners
There are two types of air conditioners with multisplit systems:
- fixed;
- typesetting.
The fixed system comes from the factory in the final configuration. It already contains one outdoor and several indoor modules. The number of connection ports on the outdoor module corresponds to the number of internal. Their type and power are determined by the manufacturer. The external multisplit air conditioner module can be equipped with 1 or 2 compressors. If compressor 2, then the internal modules can be turned on in different modes. Since the compressors have different circuits. Only multisplits of a fixed type have this quality.
With a single compressor, all indoor units will operate in the same mode. Each indoor unit of the multi-system air conditioner is given its own remote control, which is suitable for all units.
Typesetting systems are completed from one outdoor unit and many (up to 16) indoor ones. They are connected by a system of splitters. Here, up to 3 compressors are possible in one outdoor unit, but there is only one refrigeration circuit. Therefore, all internal modules at the same time "cool", "warm" or "drain." You can connect any number of internal ones to the outdoor module, but the sum of the performance should correspond to the performance of the external unit.
Types of indoor modules are selected at the request of the customer: cassette, wall, duct, floor-ceiling or column in any combination. Each has its own remote control.
Advantages and disadvantages of multisplits
The main plus of air conditioners with multisplit systems is the only outdoor module.
Minuses:
- all internal modules work in one mode;
- expensive system;
- if the outdoor unit breaks down, all rooms are left without air conditioning;
- requires a very accurate calculation of the system, which only a professional designer can cope with, flaws in the selection of flow splitters will lead to an uneven supply of refrigerant to different indoor units;
- competent installation is required.
