The advantage of fan coils is manifested in large areas - in office centers, retail premises. The system allows, depending on the season, to heat or cool the air. If the fan coil operates year-round, sooner or later breakdowns occur associated with the key components of the system: a heat exchanger, a fan or a cleaning filter. In this case, the system stops functioning.

In order for the fan coil to work correctly, regular maintenance work is needed to prevent, clean filters and air ducts, and replace parts. This is done by specialized companies with licenses. It is possible to independently carry out maintenance of fan coils in the presence of experience in such works.

Fancoils work on the principle of a conventional wall-mounted air conditioner. A distinctive feature is the liquid acting as refrigerant: in split systems it is freon, in fan coil it is water or antifreeze. From the room where the fan coil is located, air is sent to the heat exchanger. There is cooling or heating. The pressure in the system contributes to the constant flow of fresh air from the street.

A chiller is a refrigeration unit to which a fan coil is connected. It is also connected to a boiler or boiler.

In air conditioning mode, a condenser liquid accumulates on the heat exchanger, which can interfere with the normal operation of the entire system and even disable it.

By type of fan coil, they distinguish:

  • built-in and freestanding floor;
  • vertically located and horizontal;
  • in the case and unpacked;
  • two or four-pipe.

Each design requires a professional approach and compliance with the rules of service.

Typical malfunctions

Fan coil repair is necessary in case of the following malfunctions:

  1. Dirty filters that prevent the system from operating at full capacity. Cleaning fan coil units and air conditioning shafts is a mandatory event that is held twice a year before the heating and cooling season. The first sign is an unpleasant odor, upon the appearance of which they call the masters to diagnose the system. The malfunction does not require dismantling, work is carried out on site.
  2. Wear parts. Constant intensive work leads to premature equipment breakdowns. Defective parts of the air conditioner break faster. Depending on the location of the defective structure, the problems are fixed on site or at the service.
  3. High humidity and mold. The first sign is that condensation begins to accumulate indoors, the windows are fogging up. Cleaning and disinfection of the ventilation shaft is required. Hydraulic fluid leaks can cause similar fan coil failures. The dirt that accumulates in the heat exchanger is a breeding ground for microorganisms.
  4. Increased vibration, extraneous sounds during operation.
  5. Lack of cooling or heating when the system is running.

In order not to bring the equipment to obvious errors, it is necessary to inspect for potential problems long before they occur.

Compressor does not work

Actions depending on the breakdown:

  1. Faulty switch: find the cause or replace.
  2. Fuse blown: replace.
  3. Refrigerant leaks: find a leak, seal and top up.
  4. A lot of fluid in the system: measure pressure and remove excess.
  5. The appearance of gas in the fan coil: release and restart the system.
  6. Air inlet obstruction: inspect fan for contamination.
  7. The compressor is overheating. If problems with bearings - need to be replaced. Other reasons: frequent inclusion, insufficient amount of lubricant.
  8. Electrical problems - high or too low voltage: correct.

The device should be inspected by several specialists. Doing the fan coil yourself can lead to the complete failure of expensive equipment due to incompetent interference in the repair process.

Incorrect installation and selection of the installation location of the chiller leads to frequent repairs and unnecessary maintenance costs.

The chiller is an aggregate weighing from 400 to 5000 kg, depending on power, so the team is forced to carry out maintenance on the spot. The price in this case is much lower, because dismantling and transportation are more expensive than the repair itself.

Fan breakdown

Recovery technical work in case of fan breakdown:

  • replacement;
  • impeller cleaning;
  • alignment if wings catch adjacent parts;
  • repair of the electrical component of the fan.

The rates for repairing the fan are determined by the degree of breakdown and the need for transportation to the service.

Repair of cassette and channel fan coils

Cassette fan coils require periodic replacement of curtains and electric drives, adjusting the direction of air flow. Pollution on the cartridge is eliminated twice a year to ensure free passage of air to the heat exchanger.

Repairing a channel fan coil will cost more, since the system is hidden behind a suspended ceiling. The work requires dismantling the ceiling structure to provide access to the nodes located in the room. The process takes more time and requires additional tools, as well as restoring the integrity of the ceiling after inspection or repair.

Mandatory maintenance measures: work schedule

Equipment is cleaned twice a year.

The list of obligatory technical works includes:

  • visual inspection for mechanical defects and damage to the nodes;
  • check all operating modes of the remote control;
  • cleaning filters and heat exchanger, as well as fan impeller and curtains;
  • measuring air temperature at the inlet and outlet of the fan coil;
  • measurements of fluid pressure in the system;
  • check the drainage system;
  • measurements of currents in the motor;
  • inspection of wiring for wear.

After carrying out preventive measures, specialists draw up an act in two copies, one remains with the contractor, the other with the customer.

Entrusting the maintenance of expensive systems to incompetent persons is not recommended. Skilled work crews will quickly fix the problem. In the event of repeated failures, you can ask for help on the basis of a statement of completion.
