The remote control of the air conditioner is an essential part, without which the operation of the device is greatly complicated.
There are two types of remotes for controlling air conditioners:
- infrared wireless;
- wall mounted wired.
Infrared remote controls
Infrared, unlike wired air conditioning control panels, are widely used in domestic and semi-industrial systems: window, floor, wall, ceiling, duct.
Communication between the remote control and electronic control boards is carried out by means of infrared radiation.
Remote controls for the most modern models are equipped with a display backlight, as well as a built-in thermometer. Thus, temperature control is carried out not in the area of the indoor unit, but directly where people are.
In addition, there are remotes equipped with self-diagnosis systems. Indication of LEDs on the housing of the indoor unit indicates a particular malfunction.
Despite many amenities, infrared remote controls for air conditioners have several disadvantages:
- Infrared radiation reaches only 8 meters;
- If several air conditioners are installed in one room, separated by transparent walls, all of them can respond to commands given only to one.
So that the remote control does not get lost and is always in sight, all manufacturers complete it with a wall holder.
Wall mounted control panels
Wired remotes for the air conditioner are connected by thin wiring to the climate control center.
Wall-mounted air conditioning control panels are used in semi-industrial channel, cassette, wall and ceiling systems. With the help of such a remote control you can control the air conditioning of a huge workshop. The distance in this case is not an obstacle. One remote control is connected to several air conditioners.
Cons of wired remotes for air conditioners:
- inability to move;
- the need for mounting and pulling the wire.
For installation, a special thin cable is used. The wired air conditioning control panels are equipped with a diagnostic function; at the request of the customer, a temperature sensor is also mounted in the case. Temperature measurement is possible in the room itself and near the evaporator of the indoor unit. That allows you to optimally select the operating mode of the air conditioner.
The commands transmitted from the wall-mounted control panel of the air conditioner are similar to those that can be given from the wireless infrared remote control.
