Often, problems are solved independently; you do not need to spend money and time on calling and waiting for plumbers. Repair of water supply in the private sector is different from similar work in the apartment. First you need to identify the cause of the malfunction.
Pipe integrity violation
Most often, integrity is broken in metal pipes due to corrosion or decay. To eliminate leaks, first of all, it is necessary to shut off the centralized water supply in a private house. Further:
- Determine the location of the leak. If the pipe is fastened with threaded connections, the best solution is to replace it. For independent work, a section of a metal pipe and connecting elements, fittings, cut by a grinder, will be required. Using a Swedish wrench, unscrew the components and remove the damaged pipe. Pipes made of polymeric materials and metal-plastic do not have the ability to corrode, therefore the violation of integrity most often occurs due to mechanical damage. To repair the water supply, use a hacksaw to cut off the damaged section of the pipe and insert a new one by welding the connecting fittings with a soldering iron.

When using patches, leaks must be checked for leaks. To do this, the seam between the patch and the pipe is wrapped with paper. If it does not get wet, the work is done correctly.
Sealing of joints and threaded joints
The tightness of threaded joints is often broken in water pipes made of metal. The main reason is a violation of linen winding, corrosion, as well as depressurization of welds.
- If it is necessary to replace the linen winding, you need to unscrew the threaded connections, remove the damaged sanitary flax and replace it with a new one, placing it between the lock nut and fitting (or another connecting element). After that, wrap a few turns along the thread, impregnating with silicone sealant or quick-drying paint. Instead of linen winding, you can use the thread "Tangit unilok" or fum tape.
- Corrosion on the connecting elements is due to the fact that the paintwork at the joints is broken. In this case, replacement of threaded connections is required. If a leak is found in a non-separable section of the water supply, it will be necessary to replace the entire section to repair it.
Repair of plastic water pipes is less time-consuming and is done in a short time. Tools and accessories for polymers are more affordable and affordable. A separate plus is the lack of the need for gas and electric arc welding.
Equipment breakdown
The main causes of equipment failure are:
- Water with high rates of hardness and foreign matter. If water supply repair is necessary for this reason, it is necessary to change the treatment equipment, replacing it with a more powerful one.
- Power surges. In this case, it is necessary to equip the pump with an additional energy-protective device and a transformer.
- Often, equipment breakdowns occur due to the fault of owners who start operation without strict observance of the manufacturer's instructions. Install the equipment in accordance with the rules for its use.
For wells and pumping stations, in addition to the tool necessary for repairing, it is necessary to have devices for diagnosing the state of electrical appliances. With proper operation and timely prevention, you can significantly extend the life of the equipment.
Pipeline blockages
The reason for the decrease in water pressure is often a clogging of the system channels. As a result, the throughput of the water supply system deteriorates, and the pressure of water in the house drops. Blockages appear in metal pipes due to corrosion, accumulation and deposition of limescale. To remove the blockage, you need to remove the pipe section along the threaded connections and clean with a plumbing cable. Pipe freezing

The pipe will have to be replaced, and if it is above the depth of freezing of the soil, it should be wrapped with a tubular insulation in several layers or with mineral wool.
